Fl4k3s – You tell me what it means =]

What CST and IST grade what you allocate yourself for this project? Justify your response?

I would allocate myself a “B” to an “A” grade because throughout the project i have been doing quiet alot of IST work, and also some RE work. The grade i was hoping for was an “B” because that is the grade that i always try getting, but if i get an “A” I would still be happy.

What could you do tonight that would improve your grade?

I could increase the amoujnt of IST skill put into the movie by adding more transitions and also more indepth information, the prblem being is that i do not want to use such a sophisticated English Vocabulary because then people would be asking “What does he mean”.

What grade do you think your team will give you for teamwork? Why?

think that my teamwork grade should be pretty high because our group had so much fun, we stuck together and we ended up making such a good media watch episode. The group i was in was; Paolo, Abel, Anthony and myself. We ended up doing a pretty good job in editing and making the episode.

Thinking about your presentation on Monday, what do you need to do to score an “A” grade? (hint: Look at the presentation skills). What could you do before Monday, to ensure you receive an “A”?

I need to prepare some palm cards, practice my speech so i dont end up forgetting something and i should be able to answer and questions by the audience.

Journal Entry Week 3

  1. Analyse why red sunsets can sometimes be more impressive when there is more dust or pollution in the air than usual.

When there is more dust and pollution the light rays get scattered which then causes the spectrum of light. Because the spectrum of light has so many colours, it becomes beautiful and very calming.

  1. Describe what happens inside water droplets to cause a rainbow and explain how you can tell whether a rainbow is a primary or secondary.

In water droplets the light is refracted which then causes an illusion, when this illusion is caused, the feature that everyone sees is a rainbow.

-Elizabethan society

The Elizabethan society was the time that Shakespeare wrote his plays, this means that the main outline of all his plays are reality and romance, you can tell this by the play Shakespeare wrote ‘Romeo and Juliet’. This is one of Shakespeare’s most popular plays because they are interesting (mostly to the older people). Another name for the Elizabethan Society was the ‘Golden Age’.

The Elizabethan Society was during the years 1558-1603. Shakespeare is the most popular writer/poet that lived in that Era. Also during this Era was the time where people were very fascinated in Science, Technology and Exploration. This Era was also during the Anglo-Spanish war, so some poets could have written about war and death. The Elizabethan Society was interesting because it changed the way people built houses, wrote plays and even the way they talked to each other.

-Globe theatre

The Globe theatre was the place where Shakespeare preformed most of his plays. Over the time of Shakespeare’s career he lost about 7% of his share of the Globe theatre. The Globe Theatre was originally made for plays, meetings and rehearsals. Throughout the years the reason for the Globe Theatre changed into a preserved historical site. This

Theatre is preserved in current state because people thought it was amazing because so many people have preformed in.

The Globe Theatre was built in 1599, but re-built in 1614 after it burned down during a play called ‘Henry the Eighth’ and it ended up closing in 1642 after many plays have been preformed inside. The Globe Theatre’s structure seems to be very stable and from the outside it looks like a very old building.

-The king’s chamberlain men

The King’s chamberlain men were the owners of the Globe Theatre. The initial form of the Chamberlain’s men arose largely from the departure of Edward Alleyn from Lord Strange’s Men and the death of Lord Strange himself, in the spring of 1594. The Chamerlain men were the owners of the Globe Theatre, they also shared their rights with many famous poets and script writers.

Yet the big success of the company was largely determined by the Burbage family. James Burbage was the person who assembled the company and directed its activities until his death in 1597; his sons Richard and Cuthbert were members of the company, though Cuthbert did not act. This connection with the Burbage’s makes the Chamberlain’s Men the central link in a chain that extends from the beginning of professional theatre (in 1574, James Burbage led the first group of actors to be protected under the 1572 statute against rogues and vagabonds) in Renaissance London to its end. (In 1642, the King’s Men were among the acting companies whose lives were ended by Parliament’s prohibition of the stage.)

-Your group’s play-an overview

The overview of our play is that a man named Antonio was a good friend of Bassanio a person who was willing to get married. Antonio makes a deal with the devil (Shylock) who threatens to cut skin off him if he didn’t pay by the date.

Antonio still makes the deal and Bassanio ends up getting married. Unfortunately Antonio was unable to pay so he is forced to go to court and argue his case. Antonio ends up winning but Shylock gets twice the amount Antonio owed him. Everyone ends up living happily ever after.

The play was interesting because it was fun to change and even funner to act. The merchant of Venice was a play that was created about a guy doing daring things just for his friend, and he always gets lucky to escape with his life.

-Tragedies, comedies & histories

Some Shakespeare plays that were tragedies are; Troilus and Cressida, Coriolanus, Titus Andronicus, Romeo and Juliet, Timon of Athens, Julius Caesar, Macbeth, Hamlet, King Lear, Othello, Anthony and Cleopatra and Cymbeline.

Some histories are; King John, Richard II, Henry IV (part 1), Henry IV (part 2), Henry V, Henry VI (part 1), Henry VI (part 2), Henry VI (part 3), Richard III, Henry VIII.

Some Comedies are; the tempest, Two Gentlemen of Verona, Measure for Measure, the Comedy of Errors, Much Ado about Nothing, Love’s Labour Lost and many more.

-Relevance of Shakespeare to 21st century

I find Shakespeare irrelevant in the 21st century because people don’t want to talk Old English, or hear a Play about 2 people falling in love and they both end up dying. These are my opinion, I do not mean to offend anyone. Shakespeare is rarely used in the 21s centruy because people have evolved and theiur ways of speasking have aswell.

I feel that Shakespeare is something you should learn about for what he did, and not the plays he wrote. For example you should learn him in History/Geography and not English because when I leave school, when am I going to use Old English? Shakespeare is a person that should be remembered but not learnt because it is not relavent to us today.

-What are the typical features that all Shakespeare plays must include?

Some typical features that Shakespeare’s plays had are; Girl Characters, props, lighting, action, death, love and romance or comedy. Shakespeare’s plays are based about real things and real feelings these include love, hate, sadness and depression. Shakespeare’s plays are based around Romance and Reality, which means everything he wrote was true.

Shakespeare’s plays are about history and what is happening at that present time which means he didn’t have to think about much, just about stage directions and how he is going to get his desired affects. Some typical features would have to be expression, body language and eye contact.

What influences your values about issues relating to your life?

Some values that are relating to my life will include ‘The way of Life’ so how people live, interest rates, strikes and so on. These affect my life because they all include “Money”. People always talk about how they have money, we’ll if the price of living is raised that affect not only myself but people who are around me.

Do you ever compare images/values presented by the media to those of the bible? If so why? If not why?

No, because this has never accrued to me. I only watch what is in the news and just sit there and think is that going to affect me?

Has this project challenged you to examine your values? Why / Why not

Not yet, because I still am not examining my values and comparing those to others in the news.

How do you feel the media portrays social justice issues?

The media portrays social justice pretty well because they are doing the best job they can to bring things that may concern people. This is a good thing because people want to know what is going on in the world.

Has it been difficult to find articles on social justice issues why/why not?

No, because Social Justice is a big issue and there are HEAPS of articles that relate to my topic.

Do you think that the media operates from a moral framework? Give evidence by using your research.

No the media does not work from a moral framework because they are there to tell the news and not about things that happen to certain “religions”. The news cannot write a report about one religion because then they would be hated because the other religions may be offended by this. The media only does the main stories so that means they have to make3 sure that everyone could be affected by that certain topic.

A critique involves identifying critical things to say about an article and resisting the temptation to describe rather than analyze. Let’s look at the difference.

Description is just stating facts – though each person will have a different idea of what facts are the most important ones. Description is a lot easier than analysis, which is breaking things up into themes and putting them together.

Introduction, summary, analysis and evaluation

Yes a critique can be positive because it is your own opinion about what you are talking about for example if you like someone’s painting you would say good things in the; summary, analysis and evaluation. But critique can be bad because you are also criticising.

The accuracy in the first news was very bad because they are saying “Oo, I know that the Olympics is a trap because they are digging holes” this is misleading because it is saying they are planning something and because they are not getting both sides of the story.

The accuracy seems to be correct because there is a website that shows “Donkey Ball” and because there is actually a team that they have mentioned. So the conclusion that i would say is that the news report was correct.

Describe TWO things that you have learnt during this lesson.

2 (two) things that I have learnt this lesson are; that the news deceives people into feeling what they want them to feel, this is done by showing the sadder news (this is only used to make sure that the ‘News Room’ makes money by the amount of viewers. Another thing that I have learnt is that the news will use ‘Various Sources’ this means that they can copy from each other and just change a small amount of words.

2. Identify TWO areas you want to concentrate on during this project that you think need a greater improvement from the last project.

2(two) Areas that I want to learn during this project is Information and Software Technology, this will include the use of different programs, this will increase the use of people actually finding new things rather than just using the resources they have. Also another area that I want to learn is ‘Consumers Attention’ (Commerce) this is so that you know what the people want to see, and what type of music and pictures will suit the mood of the viewer.

3. Discuss TWO ways in which your group could resolve any disputes during this process.

2 (two) ways that the group can resolve and problems or disputes I by talking through it step-by-step to make an understanding of the situation, and another way is that you can assign tasks that people want instead of forcing them to do the difficult ones, because then you will know that they will not complete the tasks to the best of their abilities, which then will cause your marks to go down, but if no-one in the group wants the task, make a vote or split the task to everyone so that it is fair for everyone.
